Our trip into Yellowstone was incredible. So much so, that after our return home on the 10th, we made a reservation for the nights of the 14th & 15th in Gardiner and planned to head back into the Park.
But, first this is what was happening in Wilson . . .
The Wild Wall in the backyard is becoming a popular place!
Elk were beginning to show up down behind the house . . .
And we spotted a beaver in Spring Creek 1, from our hot tub.
Heck, the wildlife was even starting to return to our yard!
But, Yellowstone was calling, and we had to go. Even if it was hailing!

Lewis Canyon

A frozen Lake Yellowstone -

Meanwhile, the cameras back at Moose Point Lodge were working overtime!
Now, where were we? Ah, yes. Heading back into Yellowstone.
A bison jam -

Heading toward Mammoth Hot Springs -

Big Horn Sheep Ewes -

We spent a little time watching the bison -

Then, something amazing happened. We came across a mama grizzly bear and her two cubs.

Don took these shots of the cubs wrestling, on his iPhone.

This little one chased a bird -

And caught it!

This little one nursed while the other ate his catch.

Mama bear came to see what the little cub was eating.

Apparently, she didn't want any, but she didn't disapprove.

Trifecta! Grizzly bears, pronghorn & bison!

Yoga Bear -

We left the bears and spotted more bison.

Further up the road, we spotted a pack of wolves taunting a couple bison -

A fox that caught a grouse -
And wolves that had taken down a bison calf. The mama bison kept approaching the wolves in an attempt to drive them off of her calf. It was too late. And, it was heart wrenching.

Pronghorn -

Soda Butte -

Mountain Goats -

A pronghorn ruffing up a sage bush -
Coyote -

More bison. (Lots of bison!)

We were up early on the 16th. We had to be back in Jackson for an appointment, but we wanted to make sure we had some time in the Park.

As we headed out the West Entrance, we spotted some bison and a red dog about to cross a river. We pulled off to watch.

That little one was SO happy to be on dry land! It ran and jumped it's way to the join the rest of the herd.

Another remarkable trip to Yellowstone. Other than winter, this is the absolute best time of the year to be in the Park.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Love, Barbara & Don
