We left Moose Point Lodge for Thermopolis, in Northeast Wyoming, Thursday morning, March 19th. It was a beautiful start to the day at home.

We drove through Jackson & passed by Town Square on our way out of town.

And, we stopped at the Snake River Overlook for a quick photo of the Tetons (This one is for Kris!)

We took a quick detour into the Grand Teton National Park via the Moran Entrance.

Back on the road again, snow blowers were widening the available blacktop along the highway over the Togwotee Pass.

Hop in a take a short ride with us as we travel around this scenic bend . . .
Hard to believe that Don has scheduled a fishing trip in March!

As planned, we hit Dubois just about lunchtime!

Whenever we find ourselves in Dubois (and we are always looking for a reason to pass through), we never miss the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat at the Cowboy Cafe!
We split the homemade reuben with fries (naturally!) and we also split a piece of pie. They have THE BEST PIE!
As we left Dubois, the weather was much warmer and there was no more snow!
The rest of the drive looked like this -

Pronghorn
Getting closer to the Wind River Indian Reservation, where Don will fish the next 3 days.

Once in Thermopolis, we stopped by the fly shop and chatted with Danny for a few minutes then made our way to the Retreat, where we would spend the next four nights. Dinner & drinks at the One Eyed Buffalo rounded out the day.
Our fishing guide, Lars, picked us up at 9:00 the next morning and we headed to the Big Horn River for our first day of fishing. We put in at "Wedding of the Waters". It was mid-40's when we got up, but the forecast called for a high of about 80 degrees - on March 20th in Wyoming!

Killdeer

Muskrat

Mink

We finished the float trip at the World's Largest Mineral Hot Springs.

Part 2 of Thermopolis to follow soon!!!
